Motorcycle gang members indicted on drug charges

Several people in California were recently indicted on charges of drug trafficking. According to authorities, the individuals facing these drug charges are considered to be members of a motorcycle gang known as Vagos. Even though they are members of a motorcycle gang, they have the same rights as other people facing criminal offense charges.

One of the four indictments that were issued involved three people accused of conspiring to distribute drugs, possessing meth while intending to distribute it, and actually distributing the drug. Three other indictments charge three individual people with distributing the drug. The investigation that led to the individuals’ arrests targeted three chapters of Vagos.

This motorcycle club started in the 1960s and has grown into a large outlaw gang in the nation’s western region. The organization is believed to have about 600 members, all located in several states and in Mexico. The gang is involved in many illegal activities, such as handling motorcycles that have been stolen and buying illegal weapons. Federal authorities continue to investigate the gang.

Even though a person may look as though he or she is guilty of a crime, the opposite very well may be true. This is why California prosecutors are required to prove drug charges beyond a reasonable doubt before a conviction can be secured. Drug trafficking charges are particularly serious, as these are felony accusations and thus may result in more serious consequences if an accused person is found guilty. A major focus of the criminal defense may be to examine the evidence that authorities wish to use to prove the defendant’s guilt.
