A woman in California was recently arrested for stealing a vehicle. She also faces drug charges. The incident that led to her arrest occurred on a recent Thursday night.
Police reported that an officer was patrolling a street that night and noticed the woman leaving a parking lot at around 11 p.m. The police officer apparently decided to keep following the woman not only because it was late but also because the type of car she was operating is known for being easy to steal. When police checked the automobile, they learned that the car had reportedly been stolen just a few days before.
When police stopped the woman, they allegedly discovered that she had a shaved key. Police said they additionally found a pipe used for smoking methamphetamine, along with the drug itself. The woman was taken into custody on several charges, including possessing stolen property, possessing burglary tools, possessing narcotics and possessing drug paraphernalia.
Being charged with a drug crime can understandably be intimidating due to the serious nature of such a criminal charge. A drug conviction can easily lead to time behind bars along with the inability to secure gainful employment in the future. However, an attorney in California will work hard to defend the legal rights of a person facing drug charges in court. As every drug crime case is unique, an attorney will examine a defendant's case closely in order to prepare a defense strategy designed to yield a favorable outcome that is in the client's best interests.
